Minder - Protecting your Motorhome
Theft of motorhomes is a growing problem. The UK Motorhome Industry and HPI have joined forces to create MINDER, a vehicle security system to help protect your investment.
Since 2001, all new manufactured motorhomes have carried a 17 digit MIN number on the residential body, along with the 17 digit VIN on the vehicle chassis, plus an electronic tag hidden in the bodywork holding the MIN number.
The system is based on HPI's database holding details of over 60 million vehicles registered in the UK - including 6.5 million vehicles owned by finance companies, over 5.5 million vehicles 'written off' by insurers and 500,000 vehicles currently reported as stolen to the Police.
When a vehicle changes hands, a search is done of the MINDER database to establish whether the vehicle is genuine, accurately described and whether it has been reported as stolen or is subject to any outstanding finance.
